Marc Z Legal Submit a Résumé

Interview Tips

  1. Research the law firm or company before the interview.
  2. Be on time for your interview. Arrive 15 minutes early.
  3. Dress professionally. For women, a pressed pants suit/skirt suit or pants/skirt with a blazer is best. For men, a pressed pants suit with a shirt and tie. Make sure your general appearance is neat and tidy. No strong perfume. Make-up and nails should be on the conservative side.
  4. Bring a list of professional references, along with extra copies of your resume.
  5. Introduce yourself and greet the interviewer(s) with a firm handshake.
  6. Make frequent eye contact with interviewer(s) and speak clearly and concisely.
  7. Listen to questions carefully. Answer questions directly and with a positive attitude. Ask for a moment to gather your thoughts if you feel you need to.
  8. Don’t rely on your resume to speak for you. Use the opportunity to discuss your strengths and the skills you acquired from your previous work experience.
  9. Ask thoughtful questions. These are important so the interviewer knows that you are genuinely interested in the position.
